REPROWIS - Reducing Production Waste by Industrial Symbiosis

PROVENTUS, non- profit organization is involved in new project which focuses on industrial ecology. The main aim of the project is to introduce a new approach to waste reduction, based on the closer cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises - SMEs (the industrial symbiosis system). Project is based on existing approach of waste and emission reduction, which is already successfully introduced in England, under the National Programme of industrial symbiosis (NISP). Positive effect for companies involved in the project is saving money in relation to waste, input raw materials and spare capacity. During the project, a survey will be conducted on industrial ecology in 500 Small and Medium Enterprises. Based on this survey, a study will be elaborated, which will be sent out to all participating businesses. At the same time, possible links between enterprises in terms of their inputs, outputs and vacancies will be recorded for application of the industrial symbiosis. For this purpose, will be used a special software, purchased from an English company, establishing the above-mentioned NISP. Consequently, seminars will be organized, where will be invited representatives of target companies. The seminars will be focus on identification of possible "industrial symbiosis" between stakeholders and on the environmental issues in regard to the subject of the project. Result of this project, apart from increasing awareness about the possibilities of industrial symbiosis, is also real enterprises cooperation based on the industrial symbiosis relations.Project Reprowis is realized in the period October 2010 – September 2011 under the Cross-Border Cooperation between Slovakia and Hungary 2007-2013 (www.husk-cbc.eu). The main project partner is the Hungarian organization IFKA - The Public Foundation for the Development of Industry (www.ifka.hu).  Slovak project partner is PROVENTUS - non profit organization. The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), from state budget and co-financing partner organizations. The target groups of this project are Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Bratislava, Trnava and Nitra region, respectively SMEs in Pest, Győr-Moson-Sopron and Komárom-Esztergom in Hungary and legislative authorities of both countries.

ACT CLEAN - Access to Technology and Know-how in Cleaner Production in Central Europe

Non-profit organization PROVENTUS is cooperating in the project - ACT CLEAN.

The project is realized in the period December 2008 - November 2011. ACT CLEAN aims at promoting environmentally friendly technologies and activities in order to ensure eco - efficient production processes in small and medium - size enterprises (SMEs).  Project is realized under the Operation Program Central Europe in cooperation with 9 project partners from 8 Central Europe countries: Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Poland and Slovak Republic. The current environmental directives of the European Commission set requirements in order to ensure eco-efficiency of the production process but many SMEs in Central Europe fail to respond to them. They do not have access to the existing technological or managerial solutions developed in other parts of Central Europe. To overcome this mismatch, ACT CLEAN provides the first Central European network of cleaner production, which brings together leading national institutions in the field of cleaner production throughout the region. For network support 8 national contact points were created. Responsible organization in Slovakia is PROVENTUS n.o. (www.proventus-sk.sk, www.act-clean.sk). A public available database for promotion cleaner production technologies and tools has been developed within the project Registration of highlights and tools are possible via the national contact point (www.act-clean.sk) or directly on the project website www.act-clean.eu. Contact, between supply and demand of environmentally friendly technologies and instruments among SMEs in Central Europe, is also provided through seminars and workshops. In Slovakia in 2010 were organized workshops, aimed at cleaner production in automobile and food industries. Slovak SMEs also participated in workshops for foreign partners in the Czech Republic and Hungary. Programs of workshops and seminars planned in the year 2011 are listed on www.act-clean.eu.One of the final outcomes of the project will be policy recommendations to establish incentives for eco-innovation in SMEs.
